Welcome to a new Android Basic article. If you're looking to upgrade your mobile phone or tablet to the latest version of Android today, we're going to show you what it's like to "update" and how to do it. You can update this way for any model that has the Android operating system.

This is a generic tutorial, so it does not matter what device you have, smartphone or tablet, this article can serve you the same way. Let's start!

Ways to Upgrade Android:

Android 7 Nougat Update

Android 7 Nougat has already begun to reach the devices Nexus and tablets Pixel C. Among its highlights we find its multitasking mode. This method allows us to open more than one application at a time.

Another of the innovations of this operating system is that now it is grouped by applications, so that notifications of the applications of messaging, like Whatsapp, are seen together, being able to respond to the messages and to make simple interactions in the application within the Center of notifications.

It also improves the performance of the battery, activating the applications in the energy-saving mode when the device detects that it is in the pocket. Android 7 Nougat is introducing 72 new emojis, features that will help us save mobile data, multi-language support, and new security systems that they do is encrypt files or update applications in the background.

What is it and what is the purpose of updating the mobile?

Updating a smartphone or tablet means installing the latest version of the operating system, in our case. Many Android users are obsessed with updates because it has several advantages, among which are:

Benefits of upgrading to the latest version of Android

  • With a new version of the operating system, in our case, you can improve your mobile without spending money.
  • Another advantage of upgrading, depending on the type of version, is the overall improvement of the system.
  • You can see increased battery savings.
  • The device will work faster.
  • Many new features.
  • Greater application compatibility.

Android has many versions of the operating system but the latest, to this day, is the Android Nougat. Once clarified the previous topics we started with "the sauce" of the article:

How to upgrade Android to the latest version (Nougat) on all mobile and tablet models

To start, you must be connected to a WiFi network, and you should know that the fastest and easiest method to update your Android, mobile or tablet device is the official one.

How to Update Android to the Latest Version: Official Method

This method is based on checking if the manufacturer has released a new update for your device. In the case that yes it has thrown only you will have to install it:

-> Settings -> Phone Information -> System Updates

Once you have accepted the conditions and you can download the update and install it. It's easy, and you can do a test on your device right now to see how it works.

How to update Android to the latest version manually

If the manufacturer has not yet released the update, you should download and install the latest version of Android on your tablet or mobile manually. I must admit that, although I have simplified it as much as possible, this is a somewhat more complicated process than the previous one because each mobile is different, so you should pay close attention.

  1. The first thing to do is to Root the mobile.
  2. The second step would be to install a Modified Recovery. This is a tool that will allow you to install the latest version of Android.
  3. In case the Android version is not the official version (as in this case) it is necessary to install Rom. Then you can see that the ROM can come with the Android version you want.

Once I have explained to you what you should do with your mobile or tablet it is time to follow the steps that I put below:

  1. Begin downloading an application from Google Play, for this you do the following steps:
  2. Go to the Play Store and download ROM Installer (click and take you directly to the app). Once installed the application opens and an option that can only be accepted if you are Rom. Once opened, all the application information will be displayed. You press Skip, and you'll be inside.
  3. Now you must slide your finger to the right, and you can see several options. One of those that recommend is the one of "Backup" that serves not to lose the data stored. But it is better if you save the files, contacts, etc. to the computer.
  4. Once you have collected all the information, you will have to make a Flash Recovery. You can choose and install the one you like the most. When the download is complete, it will be installed automatically.
  5. The device is ready to install a ROM. Once again, slide your finger to the right and click on the ROM Installer option. Now install the option that you like, but I advise "C-ROM." Remember that it is important to install Google applications

Once the mobile or the tablet is installed, it will be started automatically, and the update is ready.

Other ways to upgrade Android to the latest version (Nougat) on all mobile and tablet models

Before doing anything, it is better that you make a backup so that you do not lose the information of your device.

How to update Android to the latest version: Through the applications section

For those who are waiting for you to get the update to Nougat and you do not have it yet, there is a trick that you can try, and that is to go to the settings of your device and then go to the applications section.

Once in applications, and move to the "All" section, and you will have to look for an app called "Google Services Framework." First, you have to delete all the data and then force the restart. Finally, You will have to start the device quickly, and when you turn it on, you will see a question about whether you allow access to the location and mark the yes option and the update will appear.

In this principle and with this trick you would not have to have any problem given that Nougat is a system that is already released in your country if it were not so it may work for you, but you do not have to have any problems.

How to Upgrade Android to the Latest Version: Via Kingroot

We have already said before that to upgrade to Nougat it is necessary to root the mobile. For this you can download a long-standing application, Kingroot but now updated allows us to enjoy the latest versions of the Android system in any model of phone or tablet (or almost).

The only thing you have to do is install the application and without touching anything or pressing any of the options that may appear. You have to notice that a trident will appear that will install additional software which will serve as a security suite from where You can control processes in the background, make diagnostics or even verify the quality of your signal.

This is an application for Android easy to install and use. Once you have to download it, You just have to give it to a button and wait for a bar to be completed to give you superuser permissions on the mobile. The only "but" is that the application is in Chinese, but the truth is that it is intuitive and sure that you are going to get everything done without the problem.

This is a Trial version application that works over Win95, 98, 98SE, Me, 2000 and XP. I leave a video of how to install Kingroom and if you have any problems do not hesitate to leave a comment to try to help you find a solution.

How to upgrade android to the latest version on mobile phones and tablets from your PC

We have already seen several options to be able to have Android 5.1 on your Android device, but you do not want to forget that there is also the way to install this new update on your computer or PC. First of all, it should be said that to perform the installation you will need to have the Android SDK installed, as well as the drivers of the device and of course, also make a backup of the data that you have stored. In this way, you will prevent them from being lost.

When you have done this, the first thing you will have to do is to find and download the specific firmware file for the model you want to update. The file is downloaded in compressed (ZIP) format and saved in the Platform-tools folder inside the Android SDK directory.

Then you have to connect the device that you want to update to Android 5.1 to the PC and turn it off. Then the phone is restarted by pressing the volume up, volume down and volume buttons at the same time. All you have to press simultaneously to start the " bootloader ."

Initiated the "boootloader," you will have to select the option "Recovery mode" through the volume buttons as these will facilitate the movement through the various menu options. The power button will be used to proceed with the selection of the option. When you have done this and be patience since you have to wait until the process is in progress until an icon that includes an exclamation appears. Then you have to press the previous key combination again, increase volume + lower volume + on at the same time and then select the Option "Apply update from adb."

Once you have done this you have to open a command window on the PC, which can be done from the Start button > Run and typing cmd.

When you already have that command line window you have to type "adb sideload" followed by the name of the file that was downloaded with the corresponding version of Android 5.1 and press enter. Then the installation process will start so you just have to wait for the installation to finish. When you are done, you can now disconnect the device from the PC and restart it. If everything goes right, then you can enjoy the new Android Nougat.

How to update Android from SD

Finally, we want to explain the steps that you have to follow if what you want, is to update the latest version of Android but from an SD or microSD card. Something that may not be possible for all models of mobile devices although if for the vast majority (What I advise you to try the steps that I give you now and see if it works or not).

First of all, we want to remind you that since the Android version Kit Kat (4.4), the behavior of this has changed for microSD cards. Since with the previous updates, any application with permissions to access the memory card could read and Write anywhere on it, such as the DCIM folder, for example, something that made your phone or tablet much more possibility of being attacked or harmed. Now however we can continue to save applications to your SD card but if you need to save downloaded information or store something can not do so, and everything will go to the internal storage of the device in a folder created for it.

With it, you gain in security, although this does not mean that from your card you can not update your Android version, in fact, you have to do the following.

Update Android from SD

To update your Android, or to install it from your MicroSD you will need these three things:

  • PhoenixCard
  • The Android image file
  • An SD car

PhoenixCard

PhoenixCard is software that allows you to run Android firmware on micro SD cards. From Windows it has been designed to create boot images and write them to connected removable drives, such as SDCARDs or MicroSDs. The removable drive is placed on the target device and the device is booted from the removable drive, either by using an update or by creating a new full image to the card.

Android Image File

This is the file that will install the Android operating system.

The link to this software is www.android-x86.org/download.

SD card

It has to be at least 1GB.

How can I reinstall Android?

  1. Download the PhoenixCard file to a folder on your PC. Then unzip it.
  2. Download the image file on your Windows system.
  3. Get a micro SD card of at least 1 GB in size and connect to your PC in some way. It should be accessible under a drive letter G:/ in Windows.
  4. You then have to go to the folder where you unzipped PhoenixCard and find the PhoenixCard.exe file with the green folder icon next to it. Double-click to open. The PhoenixCard software will launch.
  5. In the drop-down menu to the right of the disk, select the windows of the drive letter that contains your Micro SD card.
  6. Click on the image button and go wherever you've extracted (name of image) .img to, and select the file
  7. Make sure the product is selected in write mode. Product mode will create a Micro SD autoboot designed to apply a standalone image to a device.
  8. Make click Save. Pay attention to status messages. Once it is finished, you can eject the Micro SD from your Windows system.
  9. Put the SD card in your device and run it.
  10. The software will be installed.
  11. Get the SD card, and you can now use your device with Android updated.
